If one keeps harping “this is the way I’m” or “this is what I’m” (and always taking pride in it), then he/she can forget becoming “better”.

“HSoftware (Human Software) explains that though each human being is unique and that uniqueness may be worthy of appreciation, yet, it does not guarantee effectiveness in each one of them. The acquisition of more correct and appropriate HSoftware and its strict practice alone can make one more effective.

The concept “HSoftware” is fully uncovered in the book “HSoftware (Human Software) (The Only Key to Higher Effectiveness)”. The book explains the most fundamental constituent elements of HSoftware in an interesting way.

Shyam Bhatawdekar is the creator of this word “HSoftware” and its associated concepts.

HSoftware Is Acquired

Human being is not capable of doing much at the birth. It is just flesh and blood, bones and skin and brain circuitry- the neuron etc. Then what makes humans tick?

It’s their software (the HSoftware)- the programming of their main memories- their minds. And this software is majorly acquired from outside.

It is loaded in human beings in far more complex ways than the ways in which it is loaded in a computer. But largely software is an acquired entity, acquired from outside. Better and more software acquisition is likely to make a human being first more effective and then more efficient. There is no end to how much effective a human being needs to be and therefore, the acquisition of the software by the human mind or brain can be incessant.

These outsiders from whom the human beings draw their software are the environment: parents, siblings, neighbors, schools, teachers, friends, books, magazines, television, movies, Internet, travel, employer organizations, bosses, subordinates, professional associates, service providers, strangers, events, incidents, accidents and what have you. The list is unending; it can go on and on. From these sources, the HSoftware gets picked up by the human being either consciously or subconsciously.

And remember, almost all of HSoftware of a human being is acquired from the environment. All of it does not come along with the hardware (of human being- the brain & body) at the time of birth.

However, some people suggest that human beings bring along with them some HSoftware at the time of birth. They call it genetic determinism. You have it imbedded in the genes for which, it is believed that your previous seven or so generations are responsible. Your grandparents or great grandparents might have been genius and you inherited a part of it in your DNA and that’s why you seem to exude some brilliance occasionally or they were temperamental guys and therefore, you too are quite temperamental. In a way this kind of genetically determined HSoftware, if it at all exists, is also an acquired HSoftware. However, it is suggested by the knowledgeable people that this genetic determinism may be responsible to shape up only a small percentage of the total personality of a human being.

Yet, in finality, the extent of quantity and quality of HSoftware acquired genetically or learnt later on after the birth by a human being, consciously or subconsciously, is really what matters and when it differs between two or more human beings each one of them becomes a unique human being.

Every Human Being Is Unique (but may not be quite effective)

One person’s food is other person’s poison- thus goes the famous saying. The reasons for such stark differences between two persons and in other cases not so stark differences between two people could be many. Basically the differences arise out of the way different people are differently made up of- the differences arising out of the differences in their HSoftware.

And if you ask them the reason of adopting their particular ways, they will tell you the reasons quite intelligently and with great sentimentality and try to convince you that theirs is the best way.

In thousands of our seminars for general public and for people of the corporate sector, we have invariably found that the seminar participants’ response to any of the management exercises or case studies we give them to solve is not the same. Most times, it is pretty different from each other.

When we make them to discuss and sort out their differences in their choices of solutions and come to a common most effective viewpoint, more than 99% times, no consensus is arrived. They agree to disagree. At times, they lose their control in the discussions, become emotional, start talking lose, getting personal, start shouting, taking row with each other, abusing others and only short of fisticuffs.

Interesting? Yes, it is. Everyone displays his uniqueness. Everyone has different look at the same topic, everyone thinks and argues his stand differently and not willing to buzz.

Do you think everyone’s solution is more correct and more effective? May be someone’s is but not everyone’s.

But when we ask them to add 2 + 3, everyone, yes, everyone gives the same (best and only answer): addition of 2 + 3 is 5. There is no argument, there is no conflict.

Why?? Think.

We see unanimity in the problem of simple addition of two numbers Why? It is because of the “human software (the HSoftware)”, the “programming of mind”. However in non-mathematical problems everyone’s “human software” is not the same. In case of a simple addition problem (2 + 3 = ?), everyone uses exactly same and precise and correct “human software”. Adding 2 and 3 is a very simple problem in arithmetic and if one has learnt the elementary math; one can solve it to arrive at exactly the same answer i.e. 5.

In learning mathematics all of us get conditioned to think exactly in the same manner. We learn that there can be just one answer to the problem and a precise method is taught to arrive at that solution. Everyone accepts that kind of learning. Those who learn and apply that knowledge perfectly well always arrive at one solution unanimously. There is not an iota of dissension or conflict among them. Then, they do not remain unique any more as far as solving mathematical problem is concerned.

But other than mathematics and some exact sciences no where such a phenomenon of arriving at only one exact solution by all the people having the required HSoftware occurs. In math and science if you happen to acquire a correct HSoftware, you get it perfectly right otherwise you just don’t get it. But rest of the life is not all mathematics and exact sciences. Here even with imperfect and incomplete HSoftware acquisition, people do stumble on some solutions which seem acceptable to them though may not be as correct as they should be.

And then various people use or apply these various imperfect solutions they came up with by using their varying degrees of HSoftware. They apply them in their personal, family, professional and social spheres of life and become effective to various degrees in getting various degrees of successes.

More Appropriate and More Correct HSoftware Give Higher Effectiveness

We saw in the earlier description that the human uniqueness comes from each one’s “human software (the HSoftware)”. And this “human software” is responsible also for the most correct or less correct or least correct solutions to the problems in personal, professional, family and social life of individuals.

So some people may have wrong answers or solutions and they will be least effective. Those with relatively more correct answers will be little more effective. And those who are closest to the answers or who can find the right answers will be most effective.

Philosophically speaking, life is all about finding the right or the most correct answers- the truth or getting closer to it. The mankind is busy doing it all the time from time immemorial. Those who reach the truth or nearer to truth- i.e. the more correct or most correct answers to life’s various issues and problems, are more effective than those who are away from it. And the strength to achieve this comes from the quality and quantity of HSoftware they possess and continually upgrade throughout their lives.

Four Fundamental Factors Are Responsible for Shaping Your HSoftware

After distilling the data collected in hundreds of our seminars involving thousands of people from different age groups, genders, educational and experience backgrounds and also, from our observations of large number of people during our 40 years of experience as business executives and management consultants in the corporate sector, we have arrived on an understanding that the “human software (HSoftware)” or “programming of mind” consists of following four absolutely fundamental elements or factors:

1. Human beliefs or human value structure
2. Knowledge and information base (rational, emotional and spiritual) (here, spiritual knowledge has no relationship with rituals connected with organized religions and gods)
3. Paradigms (day-to-day mindsets or thinking patterns)
4. Willpower (desire, motivation and enthusiasm) to do, act or execute as well as to think, feel and learn which also involves action or doing (responsible for even gaining insight into values, knowledge and paradigms as well as for development of competencies and skills)

It is very difficult to know the sequence in which the human mind acquires these four fundamental elements of HSoftware. Or is it sequential at all? Is it simultaneous or multi-tasking? Perhaps it may also be true that one element gives a trigger or push to another element(s). This push could be any to any, any to many, many to any and many to many. Is it easier to guess which element is acquired first in the beginning of human life? Perhaps “will power to do” is acquired first or is it “knowledge”? Can’t be too sure.

But one thing is sure, the four elements are always in loops, taking the shape of twisters, the sequence of the elements in the successive loops of the twister may vary.

These four factors are all in the human mind- that’s why they are “software”- the HSoftware.

It is important to repeat that the “human software (HSoftware)” or “programming of mind” consists of following four absolutely fundamental elements or factors:

Correct and necessary acquisition, understanding and implementation of the above mentioned four factors give higher effectiveness to human beings. And higher effectiveness leads to desired success.

More Correct HSoftware Gives Better Effectiveness Followed by Better Efficiency.

Effective Hsoftware directs you to look at the effectiveness first and then the efficiency. Therefore one must clearly understand the distinction between effectiveness and efficiency. Effectiveness is doing right things whereas efficiency is is doing things right. Doing wrong things right way leads us nowhere. That’s why effectiveness should come first and efficiency later. Better HSoftware does it.

“Effectiveness” is all about finding the right destination and right direction and right path to reach the chosen destination. “Efficiency” is reaching the right destination on this chosen path with the usage of optimized resources. For example, how soon will I cross milestones after milestones and how fast will I reach the destination and so how fast can I traverse?

If you do efficiency first, you may start traversing fast on any path, in any direction (without consideration of the destination), in the over zealousness of traversing faster (efficiency). But with this higher speed of traversing, you may end up proceeding in wrong direction, on wrong path and away from the desired destination, faster. What’s the use? It’s waste of resources though you have been efficient in traversing. But your destination was all wrong.
